Program Manager I - Si a la Vida

AGENCY DESCRIPTION:  

Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency with an emphasis on serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, psychological and psychiatric interventions, and cultural/social and spiritual re-enforcement. The agency serves children, youth, adults, and families. It has a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco.

JOB/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  

Si a la Vida–Integrated HIV Services offers a continuum of HIV services to diverse Latino communities in San Francisco, including HIV prevention and mental health services. Our goals are to support Latinos in reducing their risk of STI and HIV infection and transmission, to improve the quality of life of those living with and at risk of HIV, and to reduce stigma related to HIV, STI, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We accomplish this through client-centered, nonjudgmental, culturally and linguistically appropriate services.

The Program Manager is a full-time exempt position that reports to the Si ala Vida Program Director and is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the program’s day-to-day functions. This position plays a key leadership role and is responsible for the program’s various areas, including HIV prevention and education, mental health, case management, LGBTQ youth development, and community building.

Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Coordinates and manages the day-to-day functions of the program, including planning, development and implementation, completion of contract objectives, and data management
  • Initiates plans and assignments and reviews the regular and special work of staff; as necessary, trains and instructs members of this staff
  • Provides direct supervision to Program Coordinators and evaluates their performance to ensure that program and individual goals/objectives are met
  • Monitors program expenditures to meet program needs and ensure compliance with contract regulations
  • Responsible for ensuring program compliance and completion of program objectives
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, records, and correspondence regarding program activities and contract deliverables
  • May serve as liaison with government and private funders
  • Actively participates in supervision, management meetings, agency-wide meetings, training, and workshops and represents the program and agency professionally
  • Fosters relationships and partnerships, internally and externally
  • Performs other related work as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Minimum (3) years experience in providing HIV prevention and LGBTQ health or wellness services
  • At least (2) years of program management and staff supervision experience
  • Experience working with people living with HIV and people at risk for HIV, men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender and gender non-binary individuals, LGBTQ youth, immigrant communities, socially and economically disadvantaged communities, and multiply-diagnosed patients (HIV, mental disorder, and substance abuse)
  • Demonstrated competence in fostering spaces that are affirming of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and expression
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  • Detail-oriented with solid organization skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • High-level proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong commitment to the agency’s philosophy

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health or related social services field (preferred but not required depending on experience)
  • Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test
  • Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening

CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT

  • Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test
  • Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening
  • Complete annual recurrent online training

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS²  

The annual salary range is $79,603 – $83,000, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is classified as full-time (35 hours per week) exempt and eligible to participate in medical health benefit plans, including dental, vision, sick leave, thirteen paid holidays, and ongoing learning opportunities.

  • Ability to use public and/or private modes of transportation; duties are office-based, but travel to various  offsite venues is required  
  • Activities that occur infrequently are: bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, twisting, reaching straight, above  or below shoulders  
  • On occasion, must lift up to 35 LBS
