Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency with an emphasis on serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, and psychological and psychiatric interventions, as well as cultural/social and spiritual re-enforcement. The agency serves children, youth, adults and families. It has a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco.
IFR/Casa Corazon leads the Mission Family Resource Collaborative and the Chicano/Latino Family Resource System (Collaborative programs of 4 Mission District organizations.) providing a variety of family support services: parent workshops, parenting classes, support groups, parent/child interactive groups, case management, family advocacy, parent leadership development, developmental assessments, differential response and case management services for families that have been in contact with FCS or that have had their children removed from their parent’s homes. Mission Family Resource Center services reinforce family preservation with families residing in the Mission District and Chicano/Latino families throughout San Francisco.
Job/Program Description
Casa Corazón provides Family Support Services programs within IFR. Program services include parent-child interactive groups, case management, parenting classes, parent leadership development, etc. Utilizing a model that supports family resilience, cultural diversity, and community empowerment, Casa Corazón helps ensure that Chicano/Latino families receive the support they need to remain safe and healthy.
Casa Corazón grew out of the Family Resource System movement to ensure that families received a continuum of support and services to enhance family resilience. In response to the needs of Chicano/Latino families in San Francisco, Instituto Familiar de la Raza and three other organizations established the Chicano/Latino Family Resource System.
Essential Job Duties are, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs assessments and provides mental health services to children and families
- Provides consultation to care managers and other team members
- Maintains confidential records and follows FRS and agency guidelines for clinical documentation
- Facilitates two Clinical Support Groups per fiscal year for FRS families
- Facilitates two Healing and Drumming groups per fiscal year for FRS families and community members and additional groups as needed
- Facilitates healing circles in the community as needed when traumatic events occur
- Facilitates and coordinates monthly collaborative clinical case consultations and presentations
- Manages and triages referrals for FRS services, such as mental health and care management
- Attends agency and program meetings as scheduled
- Assists with program monitoring and quality assurance reviews
Secondary duties:
- Attends community and/or contract meetings as assigned
- Participates in community and cultural events hosted by the agency
- Performs other duties as required by the program and/or agency
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Masters in Psychology or Social Work
- A minimum of two years experience providing mental health services to children, adults, and families
- Demonstrated cultural competence in working with Chicano/Latino families and individuals
- Knowledge of diverse treatment modalities
- Knowledge of drumming or any other instrument for healing circles for all ages
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Ability to work on a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the Latino/Chicano community, including that of gender, race, language, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status
- Intermediate computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Explorer, and Excel)
- Demonstrated ability to manage and organize information from different sources
PREFERRED SKILL:
- Bicultural
- Previous experience providing psychotherapy and/or care management and referrals to families living in San Francisco
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES
- Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, Counseling, Psychology and/or, Social Work, or other related field
- Must be CA Licensed or license eligible (registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology)
CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT
- Must submit to a tuberculosis test annually
- Must pass the Department of Justice Fingerprint screening pass
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination upon hire (reasonable accommodation requests will be considered)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS²
This is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. The position is 35 hours per week. The incumbent will be hired as either a Mental Health Clinician I or Mental Health Clinician II based on licensure and/or experience. The salary range for a Mental Health Clinician is $73,030 - $79,602.
