Human Resource Specialist - Administraton

Instituto seeks an outgoing and friendly Human Resource Specialist to join a community-based organization dedicated to serving the Latinx population of San Francisco. We offer an opportunity to gain experience with a dedicated team of professionals who have served the Mission District and Latinxs citywide for over forty years.  The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with previous nonprofit environment experience.

Under the general direction and supervision of the Human Resource Manager, the ideal candidate will provide professional and analytical support to the HR Department.

Essential Job Duties are, but not limited to the following:
  • Works in partnership with the HR manager in leading, and supporting IFR’s work and mission with effective, friendly and outcome oriented HR solutions
  • Answers routine employee related inquiries, with regards to insurance benefits, timesheet matters, and interpreting HR policies and procedures
  • Partners with Finance on payroll matters and ensures ADP Workforce Now is updated with personnel changes
  • Reviews health benefits insurance billing monthly and submits reconciliation report to Fiscal: review for accuracy and submit discrepancies to insurance broker/agent
  • Assists HR manager in recruiting efforts, developing agency job descriptions, building and maintaining connections with universities, review application/resumes to identify qualified talent; evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications, functions as IFR’s recruiter and retention agent
  • Conducts new employee orientations, exit interviews, and processes new hire/off-boarding paperwork
  • Oversees the health benefits enrollment process for employees, serves as primary contact to answer health benefit-related inquiries with employees and health benefit brokers
  • Assists with disability, Family Medical Leave, and other leave of absence administration
  • Updates employee files and filing employee documents
  • Prepares monthly reports and summary findings to determine opportunities for enhancement
  • Special projects as assigned by HR Manager, Operations Director or Executive Director to support workforce development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Four Year degree in HR, business, or related field, plus one year of HR/Payroll experience
  • Must be discrete and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of multiple Human Resource disciplines
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Strong ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Able to cultivate employee relationships to achieve goals
  • Energetic and motivated, and displays an easygoing personality
Preferred Skills
  • Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish/English written and verbal competencies
  • Experience working in non-profit settings
  • Strong interpersonal and bilateral communication skills in both English and Spanish
Education, Certifications and Licenses
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Business, plus three years of general accounting experience with one year of the 3 years in full cycle payroll, reporting and reconciliation or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 7 years of experience in general accounting and payroll.
  • Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test
  • Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening

Compensation and Benefits

This position this is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with full benefits. The hiring range for this position is $58,240 to $62,400 annually depending on skills and experience.

All full-time positions are eligible to participate in a fully paid medical health plan, including medical, dental, vision, 403(b) plan, earn vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, and on-going opportunities for learning.
