FRS Case Manager - Casa Corazon

AGENCY DESCRIPTION:  

Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency with an emphasis on serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, psychological and psychiatric interventions, and cultural/social and spiritual re-enforcement. The agency serves children, youth, adults, and families. It has a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco.

JOB/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  

Casa Corazón provides family programs within IFR Program services and activities including leadership, education, and support groups for parents, school readiness programs for toddlers, parent-child interaction activities for families, case management, and service linkages to address their needs. Utilizing a model that supports family resilience, cultural diversity, and community empowerment, Casa Corazón helps ensure that Chicano/Latino families receive the training, services, and support to remain safe and healthy.

Casa Corazón grew out of the Family Resource System movement to ensure that families received a continuum of support and services to enhance family resilience. In response to the needs of Chicano/Latino families in San Francisco, Instituto Familiar de la Raza and three other organizations established the Chicano/Latino Family Resource System.

Under the supervision of the Family Resource System Manager, the FRS Case Manager Safe Start Family Advocate will be responsible for the provision of case management services, facilitation of parenting classes, parent-child interactive groups and outreach activities.

Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Conduct intake assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and risks related to domestic violence.
  • Develop individualized service plans focused on safety, housing stability, emotional well-being, and self-sufficiency.
  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning for survivors and their families.
  • Assist clients in accessing emergency shelter, legal aid, counseling, and navigating the legal system, including restraining orders, custody arrangements, and court proceedings.
  • Contribute to outreach and education efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records in compliance with program guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  • Attending all required administrative program and clinical consultation meetings
  • Facilitate parenting classes for parents and caregivers, providing education about Domestic Violence
  • Lead social-emotional groups for children and parents, fostering emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and communication skills.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend availability based on client needs and or programming

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Two years experience in case management and group facilitation or an equivalent of training and work experience
  • Experience working with families with young children
  • Experience working with domestic violence or other high-stress factors (such as substance abuse, child abuse, homelessness, etc.) 
  • Sensitivity to socio-economic and psychological factors impacting survivors of violence who are also immigrants
  • Knowledge of resources available to families
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with Chicano/Latino families and individuals
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the Latino/Chicano community including that of gender, race, language, sexual orientation and socio-economic status

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field
  • Two or more years of experience providing services to families
  • Complete annual recurrent online training

CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT

  • Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test
  • Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening
  • Complete annual recurrent online training

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS²  

Salary Range: This is a full-time position with benefits; as a non-exempt position with an hourly range rate of $27.08 to
$32.74; Commensurate with work experience, qualifications, and education.

All full-time positions are based on a minimum of (35) thirty-five hours per week. This is a full-time exempt position at 35 hours a week. The position is eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) plans, earn vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, two wellness days (birthday and hire date) and receive ongoing learning opportunities.

  • Basic manual dexterity to operate work processing equipment with skill, speed, and accuracy  
  • Must be able to view computer for long periods of time  
  • Ability to use public and/or private modes of transportation; duties are office-based, but travel to various  offsite venues is required  
  • Activities that occur infrequently are: bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, twisting, reaching straight, above  or below shoulders  
  • On occasion, must lift up to 35 LBS
