Instituto Familiar de la Raza is responding to the public health emergency of COVID-19 impacting San Francisco’s Latinx community. COVID-19 is increasingly concentrated among low-income, monolingual Spanish speaking Latinxs. The primary goal of IFR’s COVID-19 Response Team is to deliver containment strategies (health education, case investigation, and contact tracing), increase access to testing, and provide psychosocial support, referrals and linkages to wrap-around social services.
Under the general direction of the Program Director, the Contact Tracing Coordinator will coordinate, supervise and assist to plan and oversee community-based health education to Latinxs, conduct case investigation interviews and contact tracing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and link clients to care and appropriate social support services. The Contact Tracing Coordinator will function as the working supervisor of staff engaged in contact tracing. This is a hybrid position which requires working remote and on-site.
Essential Job Duties are, but not limited to the following:
- Supervise and train a group of staff members engaged in COVID-19 contact tracing and related investigations
- Serves as the point of contact with City and County of San Francisco, Department of Public Health in coordinating activities and sharing information and best practices
- Researches and recommends program adjustments based on the best practices
- Collects and tracks information to conform to program requirements
- Interviews and collects data from people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and identify contacts who may have been exposed
- Provides education on prevention and mitigation, including isolation and quarantine guidelines to minimize the risk of potential transmission
- Assists clients and contacts identify any social support needs they may have during self-isolation/self-quarantine and provide referrals and linkages as needed
- Participates in all training to learn procedures for case investigation and contact tracing, including, the use of appropriate software and tracking databases
- Collects service data and enter into database accuratel
- Maintains required documentation and observe client confidentiality
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health, Social Services, Public Health or a related field plus two (2) years of experience providing health education to underserved communities of color with some leadership or program development experience. Four (4) years of additional full-time related work experience can substitute for a bachelor’s degree
- Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish and English
- Preferred experience in community health education or disease intervention
- Knowledge and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the Latinx community including gender, race, language, immigration status, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status
- Ability to provide tactful support to individuals during a time of crisis and distress
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidential client information and maintain ethical boundaries and professional conduct
- Knowledge of software used for reporting, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. For example, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
Conditions of Continued Employment
- Available to work some evenings and weekends
- Must submit to a tuberculosis test
- Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening pass
- Complete annual recurrent online training
Compensation
Hiring salary range is fixed at $54,080.00 annually. This is a full time, exempt position with full benefits.
All full time positions at IFR are 35 hours per week and are eligible to participate in medical health benefit plans including dental, vision, sick leave, thirteen paid holidays and on-going opportunities for learning.
