AGENCY DESCRIPTION:  

Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency with an emphasis on serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, psychological and psychiatric interventions, and cultural/social and spiritual re-enforcement. The agency serves children, youth, adults, and families. It has a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco.

JOB/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  

Si a la Vida Integrated HIV Services offers a continuum of HIV services to diverse Latino communities in San Francisco, including HIV prevention and mental health services. Our goals are to support Latinos in reducing their risk of HIV infection and transmission, to improve the quality of life of those living with and at risk of HIV, and to reduce stigma related to HIV, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We accomplish this through client-centered, nonjudgmental, culturally and linguistically appropriate services.  

The SF Department of Public Health funds this position through a multi-year contract. 

Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:  

• Provides interventions to people living with HIV, many dually diagnosed, including evaluation, individual therapy, crisis intervention, and collateral services as needed
• Works closely with substance abuse counselors, primary care providers, case managers, and other providers as part of the community mental health model  
• Creates treatment plans with clients and monitors the plan to improve symptoms and increase functioning  
• Maintains progress notes, billing, and client records in compliance with HIPPA and standards of care in a timely manner 
• Complies with all legal and ethical requirements set forth by the Board of Behavioral Science and with the policies of the San Francisco Behavioral Health Department 
• Participates in clinical supervision as required
• Attends required training and agency meetings
• Facilitates a psycho-educational/support group  
• Work closely with the psychotherapist, psychiatrist, primary care providers, case managers, and other staff to achieve treatment goals regarding substance abuse and HIV care  
• Develop and maintain relationships with other providers and agencies, ensuring that clients have maximum access to community resources

Preferred Skills:  

• Bicultural strongly preferred
• At least two years of clinical services experience with an emphasis on working with the Chicano/Latino community 
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the Latino/Chicano community, especially around sexual orientation, culture, language, and gender  
• Experience working with issues of immigration, social and structural barriers, and access to services in the Latino community  
• Experience and/or training in providing services to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals  
• Experience with community mental health settings  
• Experience and/or training in using various clinical model  
• Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team  
• Group therapy experience  

Required Qualifications:

Must speak Spanish and English fluently (the majority of clients are Spanish-speaking)  

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSES  

• Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social work, Psychology, or a related field  
• Must be license eligible or CA Licensed (registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology)  
• Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test  
• Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening  
• Complete annual recurrent online training  

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS²  

The salary for this position is $39.84 up to $44.78 hourly and depends on skill set and based on experience. This position is classified as a part-time (17.5 hours per week) non-exempt and is eligible to participate in medical health benefit plans including dental, vision, 403(b) plan, earn vacation, sick leave, fourteen paid holidays, two paid days off (birthday and hire date) and ongoing learning opportunities.

• Activities that occur infrequently are bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, twisting, reaching straight, above  or below shoulders  
• On occasion, must lift up to 35 LBS
