Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency with an emphasis on serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, and psychological and psychiatric interventions, as well as cultural/social and spiritual re-enforcement. The agency serves children, youth, adults and families. It has a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco.
IFR/Casa Corazon leads the Mission Family Resource Collaborative and the Chicano/Latino Family Resource System (Collaborative programs of 4 Mission District organizations.) providing a variety of family support services: parent workshops, parenting classes, support groups, parent/child interactive groups, case management, family advocacy, parent leadership development, developmental assessments, differential response and case management services for families that have been in contact with FCS or that have had their children removed from their parent’s homes. Mission Family Resource Center services reinforce family preservation with families residing in the Mission District and Chicano/Latino families throughout San Francisco.
Job/Program Description
Casa Corazón provides Family Support Services programs within IFR. Program services include parent-child interactive groups, case management, parenting classes, parent leadership development, etc. Utilizing a model that supports family resilience, cultural diversity, and community empowerment, Casa Corazón helps ensure that Chicano/Latino families receive the support they need to remain safe and healthy.
Casa Corazón grew out of the Family Resource System movement to ensure that families received a continuum of support and services to enhance family resilience. In response to the needs of Chicano/Latino families in San Francisco, Instituto Familiar de la Raza and three other organizations established the Chicano/Latino Family Resource System.
Essential Job Duties are, but are not limited to the following:

Provides family support services: parenting classes, support groups, parent/child interactive groups, child watch, parent consultations, information and referrals, etc.

Conducts data collection and reporting

Conduct direct and indirect outreach events

Supports diaper distribution efforts at the main office and Excelsior location

Provides advocacy services and performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
-
One year of experience providing paid or volunteer community health education services or a combination of 4 plus years of work experience and education

Knowledge in Child, Youth Development

Peer Counseling Experience
-
Excellent verbal communication skills in Spanish

Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the Latino/Chicano community, including that of gender, race, language, sexual orientation, immigration and socio-economic status

Tasks include standing, lifting, squatting and bending regularly

Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds regularly

Available to work evenings and weekends
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES
- AA degree, previous experience in family support or case management preferred but not always required
CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT
- Must submit to a tuberculosis test annually
- Must pass the Department of Justice Fingerprint screening pass
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination upon hire (reasonable accommodation requests will be considered)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS²
Salary Range: This is a full-time position with benefits, with a starting hourly range of $27.72 - $30.32 Commensurate with work experience, qualifications, and education.
All full-time positions are based on a minimum of (35) thirty-five hours per week.
This is a full-time, exempt position at 35 hours a week. The position is eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) plans, earn vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, two wellness days (birthday and hire date) and receive ongoing learning opportunities.

- Basic manual dexterity to operate work processing equipment with skill, speed, and accuracy
- Must be able to view computer for long periods of time
- Ability to use public and/or private modes of transportation; duties are office-based, but travel to various offsite venues is required
- Activities that occur infrequently are: bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, twisting, reaching straight, above or below shoulders
- On occasion, must lift up to 35 LBS
